Besides spin-off projects and other initiatives on European platform level, the regional Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) on urban greening also realized a number of spin-offs. Here are some of such initiatives by the CoVE partners in Romania.

The Atlas of Professions and Competences in Urban Greening in Romania

One of the first spin-offs in Romania was ‘The Atlas of Professions and Competences in Urban Greening in Romania’, a  research report of over 80 pages mapping the existing professions in the Urban Greening sector in Romania and the competences required by them. Launched in 2021, the research report was used to proove the nececity to introduce the new qualification Urban gardner (EQF3) in Romania. It was co-funded by the Department for Sustainable Development from the Romanian Government.

Education for Biodiversity in Urban Areas

In collaboration with new partners ASOP – Asociatia Peisagistilor din Romania, and co-funded by Raiffeisen Bank, the Romanian CoVE developed Education for Biodiversity in Urban Areas. This 40-hours training and awareness program for lower and upper secondary education students and teachers (including non–VET) strengthens the educational column of green education. In 2023 this program reached over 50 schools all around Romania, training 17,000 students and more than 200 teachers.
