The EILO Awards 2023 were presented during the EILO-European Interior Landscaping Organization conference in Budapest. Just like two years ago, The Gold Leaf for green interior projects was won by the duo Makers of Sustainable Spaces (MOSS) and Royal Ginkel Group with their project at Booking.com in Amsterdam. Bart Dijkman had the honor of receiving this international recognition.
About the project
Leading travel platform Booking.com has opened the doors of its new headquarters in Amsterdam, a vibrant green campus on the historic waterfront near the Central Station. This unique project, built in recent years, has led to an inclusive workplace that accommodates more than 6,500 employees.
Green architecture by MOSS
Makers of Sustainable Spaces (MOSS) have developed a visionary green master plan for the campus, aiming to use inspiring greenery to create enchanting environments. Nature integrates seamlessly with the building and the environment, with a botanical staircase, a seven-story green wall and vibrant perennials on the roof. Nature truly embodies the essence of the company, fostering a vibrant atmosphere that envelops visitors and employees and makes them feel immediately at home.
Indoor greenery by the Royal Ginkel Group
In recent years, a lot of work has been done on the indoor green project specifically. Royal Ginkel Group translated MOSS’s designs into technical engineering, which was then implemented last year. The project excels in a great diversity of greenery through the use of green walls, courtyard gardens, plants in pots and many large solitary trees. A total of 11,000 indoor plants have been planted. Maintenance is guaranteed for the next 10 years. Part of the maintenance will be carried out by Royal Ginkel Group’s own Flying Gardeners.
In addition to the indoor planting, the Royal Ginkel group has created various tree bunkers with large trees at the front and side of the Booking Campus. They also made various sedum roofs and intensive roof vegetation in custom-made wooden furniture on the roofs of the new campus.
