2 minute read

VRJ Länsi-Suomi, the business partner in the platform in Finland, is the main contractor in the Ranta-Tampella area in Tampere on several different sites this season. Circular economy is the central theme of one construction sites.

The largest of VRJ’s construction sites in Ranta-Tampella is the Mustanlahdentörmä area, located opposite Tampere’s most famous landmark, Näsinneula, on the opposite bank of the Mustanlahti. The area is a rapidly developing part of the city, which is getting a whole new look.

The use of recycled materials

The Mustanlahdentörmä project is part of the City of Tampere’s circular economy projects.
All the natural stone materials used in the project are materials demolished from the urban environment.
The soil on the site has also been recycled within the project where possible.
The vegetation and meadow areas on the site have been selected to serve biodiversity and provide a natural dynamic landscape for this valuable area.

The site is a direct continuation of the Näsi puistosilta, selected as the 2023 Environmental Structure of the Year.
The project will be completed in autumn 2024.
