1 minute read

Mihai Culescu, landscape architect from the Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) on urban greening in Romania, presented methods, techniques and tools used for increasing, measuring and tracking biodiversity in the courtyard of Liceul Tehnologic Cezar Nicolau – a place that soon becomes an outdoor training and research area on urban greening.

Biodiversity Is Beauty – the title of the Showcase Session delivered by the Romanian Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) on Urban Greening.

This showcase was revolving around the intervention made in the courtyard of Cezar Nicolau Technical High School (LTCN). This intervention aims to increase the biodiversity in this space and to raise awareness regarding its benefits within the local community and public administration. The demarche started in the spring of 2022 and will be carried out indefinitely.

Beside the biodiversity feature, this intervention also has an important educational value. In this respect, biodiversity research tools were put in place, and they will be used together with LTCN students to follow the changes that will occur over time. The intervention will be also used to accentuate biodiversity benefits and to accustom the community and the public administration with its wild beauty.

The Romanian team presented this process, highlighting the lessons learned so far and explaining future envisaged steps.
