Fourth PoVE Meeting in Valencia Scheduled on January 17-19, 2022

2 minute read

On January 17-19, 2022 the fourth transnational project (PoVE) meeting of the European Platform for Urban Greening will take place. Despite the ongoing Covid19 pandemic, we aim to meet in real life in Valencia, Spain.

Aimed Outcomes

Here’s a brief summary of the outcomes we hope to have achieved at the end of our meeting.

  • We are on the same page regarding:
    • What is a CoVE? What are the common features that CoVEs have in common despite regional differences?
    • What is a PoVE? What do you expect from the platform? How should it benefit you?
    • Urban greening is more than vertical green landscaping. How have our views of urban greening changed during the past year? And how is it changed by getting to know the Spanish context?
  • We know the ‘New Year’s resolutions’ in each region, i.e. we know their top 3 initiatives for 2022 and what they need from the other partners to make this happen.
  • We are able to use WP4 (Creation of CoVE and PoVE) as framework for WP5 (Knowledge and Skills Transfer) and WP6 (Educational Activities)
  • Board of Advisors have finally met in real life, have actively participated in round-table discussions and other works sessions, and provided guidance and consult as our critical friends.
  • We have celebrated the successes of 2021 such as the ‘Atlas of Future Professions and Competencies in Urban Greening’ in Romania, the publication of ‘Case Studies from Year One’, and the impact of our dissemination efforts.
  • The business partners have discussed:
    • Potential future innovation projects, e.g. the new Erasmus call has forward looking partnerships that specifically focus on green skills, innovation, and VET.
    • Staff exchange via the ELCA exchange program, aiming to exchange at least x number of people between the companies.
    • The implementation of applied science in this project and other ways companies, including SMEs, can benefit from this project.

Regional Field Trips to Facilitate Exchange of Expertise

Also on the programme are field trips connected to biodiversity, climate adaptation and/or well-being of citizens in an urban area as part of the field of urban green landscaping. This will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and inspiration between regions. The field trips include:

  • Turia park: Deviation of the city river to avoid flooding, transformation the old river bed into a green park for citizen’s enjoyment and benefits.
  • The Dunes area of el Palmar where Paimed and Malvesia collaborate on the restoration of natural dunes.
  • Parque Central: Focus on the use of water, restoration of old railway historic buildings into a new green area for the city, multiple uses of the park.
